Here's a beautiful Fairbanks F40, about a year old and in very good condition--Dale Fairbanks' recreation of the Gibson J185. This one has a lot of great features: torrefied adirondack / red spruce top, torrefied maple back and sides, adirondack bracing. Honduras mahogany neck and Madigascar rosewood bridge and fingerboard. MOP parallelogram fretboard inlay and ivoroid binding on body and neck.
The neck is full but not overwhelming, with 1.75" at the nut, 2.2" string spacing at the bridge, and depth going from .87" at the first fret to .91" at the 9th, with a C profile. Scale length is 24.75".
The guitar is light as a feather at 3 lb 13 oz and incredibly responsive and versatile. It's a great strummer and responds beautifully to bare fingers, too. The bass, of course, is satisfyingly thumpy, but not at the expense of the other registers--this guitar has really been dialed in as a finely balanced instrument.
There's some very modest wear if you look at the guitar in the right light and at the right angle--a few pencil tip-sized indentations, and an area on the back lower bout with some light scratching (possible encounter with a shirt button). Given the blinding iridescence of the torrefied maple, you do have to make an effort to see these things, but I always like to give a full account.
Comes with a high-quality Harptone case, also in great condition.
