This is a near-new Victor Baker Model 14 Semi-Hollow. Victor Baker is a renowned luthier and jazz guitarist who started off in New York City and now works out of San Diego. Gilad Hekselman, Horace Bray and other modern jazz guitarists play his archtops.
This model is designed for jazz players who want a compact and ergonomic body without sacrificing the woody depth and air of an archtop. It sounds beautiful--single notes carry rich and gorgeous overtones, and chords sound full and clear with ample note separation and plenty of hollowbody air. Best yet, it weighs almost nothing and has an utterly perfect fretplane that plays smoothly and evenly across the entire board. It's a joy to play.
This is a gorgeous, high-end, modern jazz guitar handmade from rare premium tonewoods. I love it, but, frankly, it is much better than I am. I bought it new a couple months ago for over $6k. There is some very minor playwear and a tiny finish crack on the neck joint (as pictured - nothing alarming).
Specs:
• Master Grade Bearclaw solid carved spruce top
• 1.5" semi hollow Port Orford cedar back with center block (no F-holes)
• Ebony tailpiece and black tune-o-matic bridge
• Figured mahogany neck with thick, black ebony fingerboard; 12" radius with huge frets; 25" scale.
• Black Kent Armstrong PAF, volume/tone controls.
• 5.6lbs.
Neck measurements using cheap calipers (+/- 0.01”):
Width at nut: 1.7"
Width at 12th fret: 2.08"
Depth at nut: 0.81"
Depth at 12th fret: 0.94"
Comes with deluxe Reunion Blues padded gig bag, which is original to the guitar, fits perfectly, and is in as-new condition.
