"Smooth" Style Vinyl Recover Kit for Vox AC-100 Speaker Cabinets - When Vox introduced the original Continental Organ in 1962, it was covered in a black vinyl with a relatively smooth levant or "pebbled" grain. Before long, customers started requesting Vox amplifiers covered in this same "smooth" vinyl. Vox accomodated these requests in 1963 when they started to phase out their tan vinyl and covered some of their their amps in the same vinyl they were using on the Continental Organ.
Although the original UK sourced "smooth" vinyl was discontinued almost fifty years ago, North Coast Music sourced a similar smooth levant grain vinyl from the now defunct Joanna Western textile company in Chicago. While not a perfect match to the original, it is quite similar. Both the Plexi Palace in California and noted Vox collector Mike Handley in the UK have used this fabric in their restorations and been very pleased with the results.
This kit includes one strip for the cabinet body that will measure 16" x 136," and two pieces for the upper and lower backs backs that will measure 10.5" x 29" and another for the center back that will measure 17" x 29" Grill cloth and pipings are not included, but also available from North Coast Music. This is a "do it yourself" kit, no instructions on adhesives or process are included or offered.
