"Thin Edge" Combo Amp Enclosure for 1961-1965 JMI Vox AC-15 1x12 Amplifiers, Black Basket Weave Vinyl - In 1961, Vox updated the designs of their amplifier cabinets. The new amp combo cabinets were quite a departure from the Fender inspired "TV" styling Vox used on their earliest models. The stylish new cabinets were so unique in appearance that a Vox amp was immediately recognizable on any stage.
At the forefront of these new cabinet designs was the "thin edge" AC-15 1x12" combo amp. North Coast Music has recreated this 1961 Vox AC-15 "thin edge" cabinet so you can replace your beat up original cab and restore the look of your old AC-15 amplifier. You can also remove the chassis and speaker from your original AC-15 amp and install it in one of these new cabinets so that you can gig without damaging the original cabinet.
As on the original, the sides, bottom and backs of this reissue cabinet are constructed of 3/8" seven ply baltic birch plywood. The top is 3/4" 13 ply baltic birch with the front edge milled to 3/8" to match the thickness of the sides and bottom. The cabinet joints are internally reinforced with 3/4" thick solid pine gussets, trimmed on a 45 degree angle.
The 3/4" thick baffle board is secured to the cabinet shell with six 8/32 machine screws with lock washers and nuts along with four wood screws. The backs are secured with ten 10-32 oval head brass machine screws threaded into tee nuts mounted in the back strips. All speaker mounting hardware is included.
The cabinet is covered in traditional black basket weave pattern Vox vinyl as shown in the photos above. Current reissue brown Vox brown grill with white piping and gold tee-molding accents the grill. Twin strips of gold piping run through the sides, top, and bottom of the cabinet. Two brass vents and traditional Vox pancake feet are also included.
Wooden rails and a slider board are provided to accept your vintage Vox AC-15 chassis.
Specifications and Dimensions: 20.75" tall, 20.75" wide, and 10.375" deep, less feet and handle. Weight: 24 pounds. All baltic birch plywood construction.
North Coast Music includes a complimentary slider board to mount the chassis in the cabinet. The clearance between the top of the slider board and the inside top of the cabinet is about 5 3/16". The control panel cutout is ~16.5" x ~3 1/16." You will need to drill your own holes in the provided slider board to attach the AC-15 chassis.
