1978 DY-55 “55th Anniversary Dreadnought”
From Alvarez-Yairi:
"The Antique DY55 is built from wood aged four or more years. Solid Canadian Spruce top, hand scalloped parabolic bracing which yields extreme sensitivity and resonance. Body is select mahogany, Ivoroid binding. Slender mahogany neck (double reinforced, adjustable rod), pearl dot inlay, and a velvet smooth ebony fingerboard."
I’ve owned this guitar nearly 2 years and it has received very little play in that time. I prefer Rosewood over Mahogany so this one has not seen much action.
The previous owner had it for many years and played it in church services. New frets were installed in 2017. Also, he installed a modern Alvarez System 600 Mark II preamp. This contains a built in tuner and a fantastic pickup. It works well with this guitar. The guitar has nicks and dings all over it, as a vintage instrument should. Nothing affects the sound or intonation at all. The guitar has a beautiful sound. The age has opened the sound nicely.
Guitar comes with a hard-shell case, which isn't mint. It has some damage here and there.
