This is a super rare Decar “Stratotone”-style guitar from around 1958 that’s in very clean condition with a straight neck thats very playable… not usually the case with these.
This model was only made for a year or two and looks to be completely stock with a DeArmond Hershey Bar pickup and Formica back and sides on a solid body core. Similar looking to a Danelectro but this one is not semi hollow, it's a solid body guitar.
It’s got a chunky wide neck with a 25” scale. No trussrod but the neck has remained straight and it plays great all over with only light signs of play wear on the original brass frets.
The bridge is a totally unique design to this guitar, with a single piece of bent steel forming the bridge plate and cover . The tone control is closest to your right hand when playing, with the volume control closest to the output jack. Knobs are similar to Gretsch knobs of the time period but might be hand made for these guitars like the bridge was.
It weighs 6lbs 3oz and sounds really great. Overall condition is very clean with a couple of finish cracks (see pics) but hardly any playing wear. It's quite a little gem and sounds fantastic. Demo video was recorded straight into Logic via a Neural DSP Quad Cortex.
