What better way to celebrate 50 years of the Grateful Dead than by playing along with this beautiful instrument!
Custom, one of a kind, unique; this Alembic bass is a close representation of a cherished piece played by Phil Lesh of The Grateful Dead as seen in The Grateful Dead Movie (1974 October tour)- (his went missing ,returned and apparently was dismembered). Alembic referred to the files kept on basses they had made for Phil Lesh to make this piece. It was formed from a beautiful piece of dark reddish brown marbled cocobolo, top and back. All of the inlays are custom and hand done. The crescent moon inlay is mother of pearl as are the double star inlays on the twelfth fret. Abalone ovals are on frets, abalone caps the knobs and abalone stars are formed around the controls. This piece has 5 piece maple and purpleheart neck and an Omega body shape, keyhole bottom. The fingerboard is ebony. The finish is high gloss polyester This piece has a unique resonant quality as cocobolo offers dark and bright tones, the piece of wood used has an especially responsive sound. This bass was rarely played and is in mint condition, and includes the case. This is truly an impressive piece, not only physically beautiful but musically incredible. What better way to celebrate 50 years of the Grateful Dead than by playing along with this beautiful instrument!
