All guitars here at Crossroads Guitar Shop are PLEK'd for perfection to ensure optimum playability and are sold with new strings, a $200 added value!
We went even further with this rare Epi and pulled the frets and re-planed the fingerboard with a slight compound 12" - 13" radius using our state-of-the-art Plek Pro. Once refretted, it went through our complete Plek Pro fret dress and setup. Prior to this the frets were very worn and there was a rise in the fingerboard where it meets the body. Now it's perfect and plays awesome at 3/64ths action across the 12th fret. A bound refret and fingerboard plane would normally run $450 at our shop!
Aesthetically, the condition is good. There are some swirl marks in the finish and what appears to be some binding repair on the top, lower bout (see pics). The tuners have been replaced with Ping tuners but everything else is all original and works like new. Pickups sound great and in general, hollow body electrics do too. Not sure of the actual number but supposedly Epiphone only made 600 or so of these between '97-'99. This serial number denotes Jan. 1997, so one of the first.
