Here is another Kool Thing! A 1986 MIJ Hondo Fame H760/12 12 string!
Believe it or not the "Hondo" brand is actually named for the John Wayne film of the same name...
This is one really sweet guitar! Solid rock maple skunk-striped neck, 21 frets. Twelve, count 'em, twelve Grover tuning machines!
Unbelievable quality and in excellent overall condition. Plays and sounds like a dream! All original, two humbuckers, three-way switch, 1 volume and 2 tone gnobs...
This model Hondo guitar was used by Lee Ranaldo of Sonic Youth in the "Silver Rocket" video.
Lee Ranaldo best known as a co-founder of the alternative rock band Sonic Youth. In 2004, Rolling Stone ranked Ranaldo at number 33 on its "Greatest Guitarists of All Time" list. In May 2012, Spin published a staff selected top 100 list, ranking Ranaldo and his Sonic Youth bandmate Thurston Moore together at number 1.
The Hondo guitar company was originally formed in 1969 when Jerry Freed and Tommy Moore of the International Music Corporation (IMC) of Fort Worth, Texas, combined with the recently formed Samick Company. IMC's intent was to introduce modern manufacturing techniques and American quality standards to the Japanese and Korean guitar manufacturing industry.
It's in good condition overall plays well. There are a few scratches by the strap buttons from Strap Lock system that left it's mark. Also, there is a little
Bit of tarnishing (or pitting) on the saddle and bridge. Also, barely a bit starting on the neck plate.
This does not include a case. Please ask any other questions you may have.
