About This Listing

Yale" 1920s Slot Head Parlor Guitar.   "MISS YALE".  Asking $1,395 NOW  $1,275!!  Dropped again to $1,150.00!!!  Dang, down to $975.

ADIRONDACK/ BRAZILIAN ROSEWOOD. ALL SOLID

The wood in this is worth more than the guitar!  I thought about having a new instrument built with the back and sides, but decided it would be a shame to erase so much history!

12 fret neck.  18 frets total

24" scale. 1 13/16" nut.  2 1/8" saddle spacing.

13" lower bout. 9.25" upper bout.

3" deep at neck heel. 3.5/8" deep at end pin.  Waist is 7.5"

Body length 17 7/8". Guitar length 36"

Former Yale University Music Department student guitar.  True Blues machine.  Beat but sweet!   Nice non original case.  Styled like a Larson Bros.???   More likely that someone else built this to look like a Larson.

This guitar plays great and sounds wonderful as is... Neck angle is good with action of 7/64" and 5/64" and feels lower due to low string tension!
Except for a nice refret with modern frets, in good shape, guitar appears all original.  Original tuners work well, and no problems other than well glued top cracks, one crack in the back, and need of a refinish. Cracks appear to have been glued decades ago. I did not want to refinish as it would diminish the value. This guitar has a moderately beefy short scale V neck that is just a bit too fat for me.

With this Yale guitar, as with all old guitars that were made for ultra light strings or even gut, don't ever put even light strings and tune to E!  Extra lights, or silk and steel!

She is a real piece of musical history.  Very Light, and Loud. Sound quality is very bluesy. Kind of in between a resonator, and a banjo crossed with a modern guitar.  Oh, yeah, Miss Yale screams for slide, open D and G, and standard tuning down one or two half steps.

Very interesting construction. All the binding is secure and intact. The rounded binding is some kind of Super Duper plastic. Which was a big deal back then!  All the bound edges on the body are nicely rounded, and consequently very comfortable. Very balanced tone, and Loud, probably due to the Brazilian Rosewood back and sides. As well as the extra light construction, and the Adirondack top and braces.  Did I mention it is LOUD?

includes nice new no name parlor size hard shell case. Case is a bit big, but I will pack very carefully!   Will ship tuned down to C and secure and pad the headstock well!  Shipped USPS Priority Mail insured and signature required. I only ship on Monday, to avoid a weekend in a warehouse or truck.

Everybody play more beautiful music!  "What the world needs now…" Cheers,
Paul
